Comic book publisher prepping for Pride month

Walking Dead pride issue

Believe it or not, in just over two weeks Pride Month will begin! Target is already selling Pride-themed merchandise, and now Image Comics has revealed it is also getting into the act.

The company announced it will release a line of variant covers for June in honor of the LGBT community. And this is not just a money grab; all proceeds from the alternate versions will be donated to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC).

“It’s never been a secret that Image Comics is supportive of creative freedom, but it’s important that we also make it clear that we stand for inclusivity, diversity, and equality, now more than ever,” said publisher Eric Stephenson. “We hope these variants will serve as a positive display of that ongoing commitment.”

The images will not be to everyone's liking. For example The Walking Dead cover is of gay character Jesus impaling a zombie on a Pride flag as he tears the creature in half.

Eleven alternate covers have been planned and will be released throughout June.
