Gay couple wants to become the next HGTV superstars

HGTV's "Down To The Studs"

Move over Property Brothers, there's a new duo in town and they want your job! (Well, they'd be just as happy being scheduled right after one of your many hit shows.)

Married gay couple PJ and Thomas McKay are hoping to make it big on HGTV. They've created a pilot for their show, Down to the Studs, and are hoping it will get enough traction online that the renovation and decorating channel will pick it up for a full run.

The concept of the show is simple: the real estate expert and the interior designer join forces with a sister and a neighbour to flip houses in their hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

"A production company contact[ed] us because of a social media account that Thomas and I started," PJ said. "The account at the time was called the ‘Property Lovers,’ and we had a pretty big following on that so it kind of just developed from that.”

He also explained the pilot episode. “The show is about Thomas and [his sister] Sydney’s childhood home. We buy the house and we renovate it and when we get the house it’s in really bad shape. So we get in there and take it down to the studs in every single room, and we bring it back to its former glory."

The two are up against other HGTV pilots currently being tested, and they are all looking for support on social media. You can send some lovin' -- but no dick pics -- on Twitter using the hashtag #HGTVDowntotheStuds.

Yep, because the one thing missing on TV is another house flipping show.
