Pharma-douche Martin Shkreli convicted for securities fraud

Martin Shkreli might be going to prison!

Last Friday, he was convicted for deceiving investors in a pair of failed hedge funds. It took the jury five days to come up with its verdict, finding him guilty on three of eight counts.

The trial “has exposed Martin Shkreli for who he really is -- a con man who stole millions,” said prosecutor Jacquelyn Kasulis.

Shkreli became internationally loathed back in 2015 when his company, Turing Pharmaceuticals, took a drug that would normally cost $13.50 per tablet and upped the price by over 5000 percent to $750 per tablet.

The drug, called Daraprim, is used to treat a life-threatening parasitic infection that can affect many AIDS and cancer patients.

At the time, Shkreli claimed the increase was essential for his company to continue to provide important research into new drugs. He later backed down and promised to decrease the cost of the drug dramatically, but that promise was short-lived.

And though this court case had nothing to do with his work in pharmaceuticals, many people are rejoicing that at least one entitled, smug little bastard might have to spend the next 20 years of his life behind bars.
