Meet the new line-up for The Village People

New Village People

We told you how The Village People is about to experience a massive change after the original songwriter and performer Victor Willis took over the group.

Yesterday, he revealed to TMZ the new members. Willis, of course, will return as the lead singer (cop/admiral). He will be joined by Josh Cartier as "The Leatherman," Edward Lopes as the “GI,” Chad Freeman as “The Cowboy,” Angel Morales as “The Native American,” and James Kwong as “The Construction Worker.”

"I felt the former touring version of the group… looked old and tired,” Willis explained, "so a revamp or repositioning of the group was required to bring it back into the mainstream. The addition of an Asian-American for the first time in the group’s history is part of that repositioning."

"A lot of damage was done to the group’s image by years of canned music presented as live performances, but that’s all about to change," he added.

One of the men getting the most attention is Kwong. He took to Instagram to introduce himself.

"I am the first Asian-American who has ever been in The Village People so this should be exciting," he wrote. "Our first show will be September 26 at the Streamy Awards here in Los Angeles, California followed by another show in October in Vegas. ... I hope you join me for the ride."

Just don't screw up the "YMCA" and no one will even notice the change.
