He missed out on a medal in the
Beijing Olympics, but South African Ryk
Neethling is still a golden boy in our eyes.
The 30-year-old swimmer shouldn't feel too discouraged. He currently holds the South African
record in the 200 m, 400 m, 800 m and 1500 m freestyle events, and is the joint holder of the 4x100
m freestyle relay world record.
Oh, and he also took home gold medal in the 4 x 100 m freestyle relay at the 2004 Summer
Olympics.
