Venturing outside the gay porn capitals of L.A., New York and South Florida, there's a big supply of fresh young amateurs. Southern Strokes taps into this potential to find hot, fresh guys rarely seen anywhere else. This well-designed, Georgia-based site features mostly white, good-looking, muscular, young jocks who fit the collegiate style. The twist here is the Southern accent: these guys come from Texas, Alabama, Mississippi and other Southern-flavored locales. But though this site has been around a while now and the videos are filmed in high-definition, the playback quality is inconsistent.

Tour

The Southern Strokes tour has improved dramatically in the past year. Once you click "Enter" the first 180 episodes of solos, duos, and group sessions have an explicit Quicktime clip, along with half a dozen good-sized sample images. Although the clips are fairly small in their default size, you get a really good idea of what you'll get as a member. You can browse through the rest of the episode index to get a few images and a full text description for every video. This is now a much more comprehensive tour.

Usability

Navigation is a smooth ride. The homepage is the beginning of the episode index. Along with each individual episode page you'll find links to the model's profiles, options for video viewing and downloading, an episode description, and an image gallery. There is also a search function that allows you to search using six different criteria.

The Men and the Action

Southern Strokes claims their guys are the hottest in the South: this is hard to dispute because they don't have a lot of competition! The guys are sexy and fit, youthful and masculine at the same time. Many fit the good ole' boy profile, with big dicks, toned bodies, sexy tattoos -- and a girlfriend. Around two-thirds of the videos are solo shoots and a growing number are guy-on-guy movies. The style is fairly standard: there's a friendly chat before the solo, and for the duo or group action the guys just dive right in.

The videos are filmed either indoors, or around the grounds of "SoStro's" beautiful Lake House. In the solos the guys are relaxed and uninhibited, many enjoy playing with their own asses. And in the duos and group videos there's no sign of the conservative South, with enthusiastic sucking, fucking, ass licking, and facials. In one of their great cumshot videos, they put together the money shots of ten of their hottest guys.

Launched just four years ago, all of Southern Strokes videos are filmed in high-definition, but the playback quality is inconsistent even within one video; oddly, sometimes the lower resolution videos looked better than the higher resolution ones. But the videography is quite good, with multiple camera angles and lots of light.

Video Details

Southern Strokes featured 286 exclusive videos at the time of this review, with an average running time of 15 minutes. There is a reliable weekly update of a video and an image gallery. And since there's no DRM you can keep the downloads as long as you like.

Image and Other Content

There is a digital photo gallery for each film Southern Strokes offers. The number of photos in each set varies, from less than 20 to more than 50. The quality is good and you have the option to download an entire set in one single zip file or watch a slideshow at your choice of 3 speeds.

Summing Up

Southern Strokes has a distinctive name, and a laid back personality that lets you know these guys are so hot they have nothing to prove. The updates are regular as clockwork, and the green country setting is a perfect backdrop for these very sexy young studs. But they have not yet figured out the optimum settings in processing their videos, so the playback results are not as impressive as they could be.
