It's hard to estimate the influence COLT Studio has had on contemporary gay porn. From its first VHS releases back in the 80s, to the instant DVD classics of today, the COLT man remains an icon of masculinity. And there's no better place to experience all that COLT has to offer than on its website. In addition to the classic content, the site showcases a stunning crop of young contemporary stars. The main drawback to this site, as is the case with many studio sites, is that Flash streams are your only media option. Also be aware of the pre-checked box on the sign-up page that will sign you up to a trial for another site unless you uncheck it.

Tour

The tour's homepage is divided into five sections that introduce you to COLT's contemporary and classic film library. First you'll see the "Latest Update," which serves up an explicit preview clip from one of the full-length scenes, following by 8 more clips. A little further down the page are the "Highest Rated" and "Most Viewed," both of which lead to preview clips and deeper into the full roster of almost 540 scenes. This is a mirror tour, complete with clips from all the scenes.

Usability

Navigation through the site is very easy. The tool bar across the top of every page provides several choices, including: "Updates," "Browse DVDs," "Men," "Photos," and "Store." When you go into "Updates" you'll get started on the scenes from every era of COLT Studio's DVDs.You can search them by type of activity, by movie title or studio, by actor, by scene or DVD cover, and by recent updates, highest rated, or most viewed.

The Men and the Action

Back in the day, COLT models tended to be towers of muscle and flesh, posed in classic locations, either in slow and sultry solos or fucking without condoms. These vids might feature strange, plunky music, shag rugs and orange and rust upholstery. A good number of the men proudly displayed their early manscaped body hair, including their untamed bush.

Flash forward 25 years and the COLT men cross the spectrum of body types and sizes -- but the big muscle guys can still find work with the studio. The video scenes on the site are from product lines originated by COLT Studios: Colt, Buckshot, Olympus, and Minute Man. The playback quality ranges from good to excellent. Naturally, the remastered scenes from the oldest releases have less clarity and imperfect light conditions at times, but they share professional production values with the most current releases. The founder, "Rip" Colt, was a film maker who knew how to shoot, edit and render a well-lit movie with all the hottest poses, camera angles and close shots that hold your attention and keep you horny from the beginning right to the "climax" of the action. If you think porn does not have a dramatic arc then you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Video Details

There are 537 scenes averaging 15 minutes -- that equals 135 hours of classic and contemporary porn. The site updates weekly with remastered or brand new episodes, and it's worth noting, these are not released to DVD until well after the exclusive web release.

Image and Other Content

The Colt image galleries not only showcase the contemporary stars but provide an excellent window to view Colt men of the past. Some of these large, high quality images were no doubt shot with a previous generation of cameras, and they are excellent. There are also some video captures mixed in, these are handy for checking out what goes on in a particular scene. There is no choice of image size and no slideshow feature.

Summing Up
