Did "Walking Dead" actor fight to keep his character straight?

Daryl Dixon

Actor Norman Reedus is denying claims that he was upset that his character, Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, may be gay.

Reports have been circulating on social media and in the tabloids that he was upset when producers recently confirmed the character may be a homosexual. According to gossips, he feared that making Daryl gay would result in losing his female fans.

“He fears the same-sex shocker would hurt ratings by disappointing his legions of female fans," claimed the GLOBE. "Norman isn’t anti-gay in his personal life, but he’s become one of the biggest male sex symbols in television. He gets thousands of fan letters from women each week – along with dozens of marriage proposals.”

Reedus took to Twitter, tweeting that the rumors were total "BS."

It's not like there's going to be much chance for any man-on-man action in the show. The world's been overrun by zombies, and there aren't any other gay male characters. And are female fans so dumb as to believe because a character is gay, the actor is therefore gay and unavailable?
