Free Speech Coalition declares war on AIDS Healthcare Foundation

That there is no love lost between the Free Speech Coalition (FSC) and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) should not come as a surprise. The two groups have been at each other's throats over issues of condom use in porn and how best to handle HIV testing and other health issues related to models within the industry.

Of course, the two groups have slightly different mandates, which can explain some of the conflict. The FSC is an adult trade organization designed to be the voice of the adult industry and its models. The AHF, on the other hand, was created to work with and for individuals with HIV/AIDS, and to work towards reducing the spread of sexually transmitted infections.

Most recently AHF successfully helped pass Measure B, which made condom use mandatory in XXX shoots that take place within LA County, California. The group is now pushing for a similar law to be enacted statewide, one that would even allow citizens to sue production companies and models for bareback porn.

The FSC is now arguing that AHF has violated its standing as a non-profit organization and should be investigated by California’s attorney general.

“[The AHF] appear to have grossly underreported political expenditures to the IRS,” the adult trade organization said in a statement. “Many people have wondered how a non-profit like AHF could spend so much money in politics, given the strict limitations placed on non-profit political activity by the IRS and the State of California.

“The answer appears to be by underreporting campaign expenditures on tax forms, even while filing much higher numbers on state lobbying disclosure forms."

The group concluded: "We have reviewed multiple newspaper reports and publicly available documents that appear to indicate that AHF has spent nearly $7 million over the past 4 years on lobbying/political activities, in excess of legal limits."

The AHF has yet to respond.

Maybe one day the two groups will patch things up, but we're not holding our breaths!
