"The LGBT community —- these are people that had a place —- this was a place of safety," he said at a recent rally.

 

He then claimed that the "LGBT community is starting to like Donald Trump very, very much lately." He added: "As far as gays are concerned they [ISIS] throw them off buildings. They kill gays in these countries. So you tell me who's better for the gay community or for women than Donald Trump."

 

He even tweeted: "Thank you to the LGBT community! I will fight for you while Hillary brings in more people that will threaten your freedoms and beliefs."

 

Many people were unconvinced.

 

"Donald Trump has vowed to roll back marriage equality, pass Kim Davis-style discrimination and allow governors from coast to coast to pass laws like North Carolina's HB2," Jay Brown, spokesman for Human Rights Campaign, pointed out.

 

Still, there are outspoken supporters of the Orange terror.

 

“I believe we truly hit a tipping point in the LGBT equality movement in the United States in that for so long, you had Republicans reluctant to even mention the phrase ‘LGBT community’ and here we have our presumptive Republican presidential nominee not only using that phrase but directly expressing sympathy,” said Gregory T. Angelo, president of the Log Cabin Republicans. “If Republicans try to position themselves as being justified in maintaining harsh anti-gay rhetoric in the platform … you better believe that Democrats are going to demonize them any chance they get.”
