Adam Lambert as Freddie Mercury

Adam Lambert may not be loved by everyone, but the former American Idol contestant obviously has a few fans.

Rumor has it he will get to sing with legendary rock band Queen for two tour dates this year. And the openly gay Lambert isn't worried about being compared to the original Queen front man Freddie Mercury.

“After the EMAs, I heard faint little slithers of a backlash from people saying: ‘You can’t replace Freddie Mercury.’ But I already knew that," he said. "There’s no intention in my mind of replacing Freddie. That’s impossible. The way I’m choosing to view it is that it’s a great honour and one I’m in no way going to shirk... Being asked to front Queen is the best thing that can possibly happen."

Until then, fans can enjoy his latest release 'Better Than I Know Myself.'

16 million women married to gay men ... in China

ChinaProfessor Zhang Bei-chuan of Qingdao University said that about 16 million women in China are married to gay men. This would mean 3% of all marriages in China are shams.

In 1997, homosexuality was decriminalized. In 2001, it was delisted as a mental disorder. However, there are no protections for members of the gay community, and it is still condemned by many.

Bei-chuan said that many of the men get married because of societal expectations, and it isn't a positive experience for either partner.

Xiao Yao, a 29-year-old who was married to a gay man, even started a support website for other women who have gone through what she experienced.

“Most gay men’s wives I’ve known are silently suffering at the hands of husbands who could never love them, and like me, some even got abused by husbands who were also under great pressure," she said. “The website makes them feel they’re not alone and empowers them to make the right choices.”

Some within the gay community are crying foul over the research. Xiao Dong, a gay man involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, challenged the results as “unsubstantiated” and “pointless."

In unrelated news, China has seen an increase in the number of 'married men only' clubs.

Yahoo! removes hateful comments about Lambert

Adam LambertOne thing you will notice after reading the comments section of many online news and pop culture sites is that there are a lot of stupid, insensitive and downright hateful people out there. And often, as with a recent Yahoo! News article on Adam Lambert and his new CD, the comments can be extremely homophobic.

Following the piece, several people decided to share their not-so-nice opinions. The most disturbing comment: "It would make my day if someone was to do to him what those men did to Matthew Shepard."

The company's Terms of Service state that it “does not allow content that promotes hatred against users or groups of users. Protected categories include, but are not limited to race, ethnicity, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity."

GLAAD was advised of the comments and demanded Yahoo! do something about them. Yahoo! suspended all commenting on the article and removed several of the offensive posts.

"Young music fans should be able to interact and comment on sites without seeing violent, hateful comments directed at LGBT people," said GLAAD's Director of Digital Initiatives, Allison Palmer. "Yahoo! did the right thing by taking immediate action to enforce their Terms of Service, setting an important example for other leading websites and tech companies."

Of course, it is always easy to say nasty things when you can hide behind a screen name.
