Condom bomber arraigned

Typically tools for safer sex, condoms proved dangerous for several Boston strip clubs last fall when an ex-waitress converted condoms into bombs. Known as the condom bomber, she sent several packages of explosive rubbers to area strip clubs and was finally arrested Friday night.

Kimberly Lynn Dasilva said she was tired of being mistreated by men. The 40-year-old former waitress just "couldn't take it anymore," Fox News reports, citing FBI documents that were unsealed in Boston's U.S. District Court this week. A single mother of two teenagers, Dasilva filled condoms with gasoline and drain cleaner -- a potentially explosive combination -- but said that she didn't think the bombs would work.

Luckily, she was right. In September, Dasilva addressed packages filled with the condom bombs to the Bridgewater State College admissions office, a Boston television station, a Boston radio station, a local motorcycle club and two strip clubs where she was formerly employed. None of the condoms exploded.

State police troopers and the FBI raided Dasilva's home and found letters in her bedroom's ceiling tiles allegedly linking her to the condom mailings. Police arrested her Friday night and she was released Monday on $10,000 bond.

We'd like to suggest an amendment to the standard usage blurb found on condoms everywhere: "Effective against pregnancy, HIV (AIDS) and STDS -- but NOT man-hating waitresses!"
