"F-word" ends teacher's career

teacher fired for f-wordJeffrey Smith should have known better. A Philadelphia teacher for 19 years, he was fired after showing his 11th grade journalism class the "F*CK" DVD, about "the Queen Mother of all dirty words... (as) examined through all its linguistic, sociological, legal and ethical implications."

"I knew I was being daring and being challenging to them," Smith admitted. "I did not feel I was being inflammatory or appealing to their prurient interest."

But the teacher made some foolish mistakes. First, he neglected to send home permission slips before showing the film. Second, he failed to watch the documentary in full. He missed 38-seconds of an explicit scene of a couple having sex, as well as other sexually suggestive content.

Principal Patricia Admiral Randzo found out later that day...

"His disregard for the safety and well-being of all of the students in his class constitutes negligence," her incident report revealed. "His decision to show this content was immoral."

Smith believes the Principal was motivated more by revenge than the actual incident. Last year he had told the local paper "The Inquirer" that she had changed the grades for the better of 90 students, a violation of school district policy.

It would seem somehow fitting if his last words to the principal were "Fuck you!," don't you think?
