Money makes people do stupid things

Johnny Hanson is probably best known for his work in porn videos from the mid 90s, starring in such films as "Other Side of Aspen 3 - 4" and "Trying It on For Size." He faded into obscurity for some time, but recently made a a small come-back in a non-sexual role for "Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita," and then sexually in "The Bigger The Better."

Returning to the industry Hanson took a very strong stand on the issue of barebacking in films, opining that it was "not too smart and way too risky." He then went on to perform in a condomless scene for SX Video. His change of heart was fueled by money.

"I was paid the top dollar I asked for," he said. "And I figured being the top wasn’t too much of a health risk."

Really? Others quickly took the star to task...

Michael Lucas attacked Hanson for such a foolish attitude, alleging the 42 year-old porn star told Lucas he was HIV positive. "So when (Hanson) is saying that there was no risk, does he mean there was no risk for the bottom that he fucked? …I thought it was particularly gross of him to make such a comment." (Note: Hanson has not publicly revealed his HIV status)

Titan Media's Keith Webb seconded Lucas' comments. "This is just the tip of the iceberg of what is a much bigger issue in the gay adult industry. The unspoken truth is that most … of the performers in USA-produced gay bareback films are HIV+. Everyone within the industry knows this, but they are not willing to admit it publicly. For the most part, HIV+ performers are the ones doing bareback films, why else would someone be willing to take 50 loads up their ass?"

He than calls on "leaders within this industry to grow a set of balls and stand up and say what they believe in! I’m getting sick and tired of hearing idiotic comments like ‘the cat is out of the bag’ and ‘there is nothing we can do about it.’ Bullshit, there is plenty you can do about it if you really cared about the community and the industry."
