Run, Santa, run

The speedo is not often considered acceptable winter attire, but a group of runners in Boston and Toronto have decided it was time to change that. Sporting tight red swimsuits, men and women recently braved the cold to show off their sexy bodies and raise money for some worthy causes.

The Boston Santa Speedo Run began in 2000 as a joke between 5 friends, who hopped out of car in front of the Four Seasons wearing nothing but their speedos. They then ran down the street with the "Muppets Christmas Carols" cd blaring in the background.

The public reaction was surprisingly positive, and the guys decided they could create an annual event to raise money for local charities. The Santa Speedo Run was born, and in 7 years has raised over $150,000. This year's run was held on December 15th.

The Toronto Santa Speedo Run took place on December 8th with proceeds going to the “Toys and Games Fund” at the Hospital for Sick Children. According to the official website, "What originally started as a whimsical idea conjured up in a mild fit of dementia in 2005 ended up raising almost $20,000 for the Toys and Games fund at Sick Kids at the 2006 edition."
