A major outing for baptist church

Bishop Alfred Owens Jr.An angry Baptist outed over 100 members of her congregation. The unnamed woman sent e-mails to church members and the pastor of the Greater Mount Calvary Holy Church in Washington, D.C., exposing what she saw as a bunch of sinners.

“I will be leaving the choir at the top of the year because 80 percent of the tenors are homosexuals and act more like a female in choir rehearsal than I do,” she told the church pastor in the e-mail. “The following people I am asking you to monitor very closely and my prayer is that you will sit them down from their ministries... because they are ushering in the presence of sin, lies, a spirit of homosexuality and sexual spirits.” Fun!

She went on to name the 45 members she believed were gay. A second e-mail included the names of an additional 62 queer church members. “90.9 percent of the tenors in Sanctuary choir are homosexual. 99.9 percent of all the tenors in Celebration Choir are homosexual, including xxxxxx, but he is very undercover, aka, down low with his sex life.” Note to selves: join a baptist choir. [more]

The pastor for the church made news last Easter for his own homophobic rant. “It takes real men to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior,” Bishop Alfred Owens Jr., preached. “I’m not talking about no faggot or no sissy,” he said. “Let the real men come down here and take a bow — all the real men. I’m talking about straight men … praise God that you’re straight.”

It's always reassuring when church leaders say what they really believe!
