Abercrombie & Fitch ad too sexy for mall

Abercrombie & Fitch controversy over postersClothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch relies on sexy images of young men and women to sell their brand. But at Lynnhaven Mall in Virginia Beach, sexy is not welcome. Two large promotional posters were carted away by police after a concerned citizen complained the images were obscene.

Adam Bernstein, a police spokesman, said one image was of a naked girl, her nipples hidden behind her hands. "You could still pretty much see the rest of the breast," he said. Well, we all know how frightening boobs can be.

The second image shows three shirtless lads running through a field, with the cutie in the lead about to lose his jeans. You can almost see the top of his bum! Well, we all know how frightening butt cracks can be.

The manager of the store was issued a citation and if found guilty could have faced up to a year in jail and a fine of $2,000. And though it is a corporate decision about what images are (or are not) displayed, the local authorities felt it was the store manager's responsibility to comply with any city ordinances.

Luckily the charges have since been dropped by the city attorney. It was unlikely they could have secured a conviction.

Check out the offending poster...
