Spitzer swallows... his pride

And you thought only Republicans had sex scandals, didn't you? Well, New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, resigned yesterday after his involvement with high class call girls was discovered. It's hard to tell who's happier, Republicans or comics. 

"It's just mindblowing that he spent $4,300 on a hooker," said comedian Lisa Landry. "It just shows how high the cost of living is in New York. That same hooker would cost $50 in Newark."

And David Letterman listed the Top Ten "Eliot Excuses." The number one excuse: "I thought Bill Clinton legalized this years ago."

Over at the "The Daily Show," Samantha Bee quipped: "You know, if there's one business event your spouse should probably be excused from, it's the one where you explain how you've betrayed them. I mean, what does someone wear for that?" Touche!

Of course, many gays are less than enthused by the news; Spitzer was a vocal advocate for gay rights in New York state. So to all polticians, a word of advice: stop eating the food in the cafeteria. It's obviously laced with something! (Unless you're a homophobe, then eat as much of it as you like.)
