A brand new day

First, the good news: America has a new President. And yes, as expected, it's Barack Obama.

Obama told supporters that "change has come to America" as he claimed victory in a historic presidential election. This makes him the 44th President of the US, and the first African-American President.

The bad news: Proposition 8 in California, the measure that would ban gay marriages in that state, is has passed. The Yes camp secured 52% of the vote, beating out the No campaign of 48%. 

Arizona successfully passed the equally draconian Proposition 102 to ban gay marriages. Floridians supported a similar measure. Pathetic!
