Mr Gay Europe too sexual for one contestant

Jobbe Joller, Mr Gay Denmark

Jobbe Joller, who won this year's Mr Gay Denmark, has decided to pull out of the Mr Gay Europe contest in Rome because it's 'too sexual.'

Certain events made him uncomfortable, including a naughty car wash performance, and a photoshoot in a sex shop. He said such things only played to gay stereotypes, which he was not interested in promoting.

"I believe that I won Mr Gay Denmark 2011 and was chosen to represent my country in Mr Gay Europe 2012  because of the messages that I try to spread," he wrote on his Facebook page (in Danish). "That message being you should be proud and happy with yourself, whether that's gay, bisexual, transsexual and any other variation of living.

"I don't feel comfortable having to undress with sexual innuendoes to express exactly the opposite."

His bio on the Mr Gay Europe website descrbes him as a 'very private person,' but he had hoped to use the platform of Mr Gay Europe to promote his work within the gay community.

"I just think it’s necessary sometimes to be in the media – so that my work in the gay community is reaching as many as possible," he wrote. "I’m not doing all of this so I can be honored or praised – but because I love it and I love the people I’m working for and with."
