Musical explores gay love in Catholic boarding school

Bare is a coming-of-age love story set in a co-ed Catholic boarding school; it stars Taylor Trensch and Jason Hite as a secret gay couple struggling with the idea of going public. The musical deals with issues of sexual identity, bullying, and self-acceptance.

The show was choreographed by Travis Wall, the cutie from TV shows So You Think You Can Dance and Oxygen's All the Right Moves. "There's so much energy, and so much fire and force behind his movement," said Hite.

"Travis came to see a reading and sobbed through it, honestly," added producer Carl White. "And he was so moved, and he came up to us and said, 'This is my story.'"

Previews begin Nov. 19 and the show opens Dec. 9 at New World Stages in New York City.
