Yoko 'Oh No' does men's fashion

Yoko Ono pantsMove over Calvin Klein, Yoko Ono is spreading her creative wings and exploring the world of men's fashion

Her collection, under the name “whatever gets you through the night," includes everything from bottomless pants, shirts with no shoulders and a male bra fitted with light bulbs. The various pieces will be available from Opening Ceremony in the US.

The inspiration for the pieces comes from a series of images Ono created as a gift for her husband John Lennon back in 1969.

“I was inspired to create ‘Fashions for Men’ amazed at how my man was looking so great. I felt it was a pity if we could not make clothes emphasizing his very sexy bod,” she said. “So, I made this whole series with love for his hot bod and gave it to him as a wedding present. You can imagine how he went wild and fell in love with me even more.”

“Sure, walking around in a pair of trousers that leave your buttocks perfectly visible might seem a bit outre, but the collection contains a number of more subdued garments: a $595 blazing-pink jacket that comes with one inexplicably black sleeve (as well as) a pair of black trousers with a giant white hand positioned exactly over the crotch,” explained Stuart Heritage, of The Guardian.

He added: “You’ll wear them in the knowledge that Lennon himself looked at the original sketches before turning to Ono, his eyes brimming with love, and saying, ‘Bloody hell, Yoko, I was sort of hoping for a toaster, to be honest.”
