Madonna won't be charged in Russia for pro-gay stance

MadonnaYesterday, a lawsuit filed against pop star Madonna was tossed by a Russian court.

The suit, initiated by the Trade Union of Russian Citizens, had been seeking millions of dollars in damages from Madonna because she traumatized minors by speaking up for gay rights during a recent concert in St. Petersburg.

The plaintiffs declared her words "propaganda of perversion" that would negatively affect Russia's birthrate and help erode the nation's ability to defend itself with fewer soldiers in the future. The judge had to warn journalists that if they continued to laugh during the trial, he would have them removed.

In St. Petersburg, a law was passed in February that made it illegal to promote homosexuality to minors.

"Who will children grow up to be if they hear about the equal rights of the lesbian lobby and manly love with traditional sexual relations?" one of the plaintiffs, Darya Dedova, testified. "The death rate prevails over the birth rate in the West; young guys are becoming gender neutral. ... Madonna violated our laws and she should be punished."

Madonna has not commented on the court decision, though we think she'd tell the Trade Union to kiss her sweaty pointed bra.
